I get what you're saying, and do not get me wrong, Sangwoo is horrible and his actions are not to be dismissed. However, as the story went on and his backstory was revealed, Sangwoo was actually just a victim of his environment. His mother was mentally ill and it really messed him up causing him to be the same way. This is why he did those horrible things to Bum. Bum let this happen, of course, because he was also a victim of his environment. He turned out submissive and "slow" because his uncle forced him to and Sangwoo became controlling and violent due to his mother. I guess I should have explained this more, I do not want you to think I'm supporting Sangwoo's behavior, for I am not, I am saying he's not evil, he is a victim. Him and Bum need each other in a way because they both were victims of child abuse which caused them to be mentally ill. On the other hand though, they enabled each other's behavior. I just hope they both can just rest finally, together, without their illnesses and traumas.
"They both are sick. They cannot be healed" I assume that a therapist wouldn’t agree. This story lacks psychological support for Bum and Sangwoo (if the writer decided to not just kill them lol) which could have given a proper healthy ending (with Bum finally free, loving and respecting himself and Sangwoo, in prison, hopefully understanding what he did wrong with the proper therapy.). There is no teaching after killing them both... And what was the whole point of this story then?
I don't know if you have read the entire story but essentially, their is no way either of them could come back to a normal, healthy mental state. The author intentionally left out psychological support. This is not a story about morals with a lesson at the end, this is psychological horror. This shows the dangers of the human mind and how those can be so easily hidden. Bum did eventually receive some treatment but he could not go back. Honestly, I personally think there are some people that cannot be helped for they are too far gone.
No way? Of course they could have. Bum, at least. As you said, he had "some" treatment. Not enough for all the damage.
I just keep wondering what's the point of this story then owo
It wanted to show how two sick people can turn and die without proper support? That's the only thing i can think about. Otherwise it was just gore.
I get what you're saying, from that perspective I completely agree. However, I am a huge horror fan so this ending truly satisfies me. I guess there is no point to the story, we take away almost nothing. This wasn't to inspire or teach anything, just to entertain those who are fascinated with our worst fears as humans. Honestly though, I think it was the most realistic ending (for a webtoon), I think them both getting mental help would have been a stretch, even if it was the best thing for them.
This is the perfect ending. Sangwoo had to die and so does Bum, which I'm assuming he is about to. They both are sick. They cannot be healed, however maybe in some version of afterlife they can be together, without their illnesses. I do wish though that the old lady got punished or that Bum freaked out more. She killed Sangwoo. Additionally, Sangwoo was bound to get caught, Sangwoo was starting to get sloppier as his illness worsened. I wish both Sangwoo and Bum were killed together somehow but I feel like them dying separately fits the story more.
