I don’t think the wife knows what the father did to his daughter or she’s probably planning to do something evil which is unlikely
she is actually the stepmother i believe or else she would treat tge main character horribly
Why does the Wife treat the illegitimate daughter better than the father? It's a nice surprise, but extremely confusing
