Magnolia died because he lost his power after the peeps burned down the forest. And Emil died because he stayed in the fire with him. They just died, together. No more, no less. The last page was only picturing them as finally together

The last page was only picturing them as "together until the end". Magnolia was hugging Emil with his wings.
Magnolia didn't die, he turned into a beast it's said at the end, he just have a human face at the last page and he took that form as in page 35 when he first opened himself up to the first "Emil" , as the kid grew up Magnolia's heart softened for him and then he later took a human form.
The ending is open, no one knows what happened to both of them, and since they both have the same life span, you'd guess that it's less painful than what Magnolia gone through before. I'd assume by the end they escaped the forest and lived in a secluded place together.
No one died, at the end Emil said that he wants to see when Magnolia grow old and the time when he die, now that their life span is close they'll be able to live and see each other grow old unlike before. So, yeah at the end no one knows what happened to both of them afterward, but they definitely went to a secluded area and lived their life together with less pain.

The last two pages were confusing as hell.
