Oh that was me too, I suggest exploring options when you get to University. I switched my major around so much and even before that I couldn't make up my mind. I switched from majoring in english to being a teacher to going into Business management. Now that I got my degree I want to pursue Nursing. So thats my new goal. Dont worry if you dont know ehat you want to do. Be openminded and before you know it, something will click and you'll know what you want. Even now I dont know what I want and im 25.

Don't worry. Almost everyone feels the same way at the end of high school. It's ok to feel lost and not know what you want to do yet. I know there's a lot of pressure to have your whole life planned, but most people don't figure out what they want to do until they're already in college/university. You'll have plenty of time when you get there to try out new things and figure out what you want to do. So no worries. You still have a lot of time and most of your peers probably feel the same way, they just don't talk about it.

Hey Thanhthao, I did the college thing and the grad school thing and now have a career using my Masters. My experience is a lot of high schools create this myth that you have to have everything figured out before you graduate high school, and that's absolute BS. I feel like a lot of people experience an incredible pressure to go to college, graduate in 4 years, and start a great career. While that was probably realistic 20 years ago, it has really changed within the past couple decades (not with this economy). So here are some of my thoughts.

    1. College is stupid expensive. Yes there are student loans, but me and all of my friends are struggling to pay our student loans. Right now, I am paying 500 dollars a month on loans. That's like . . . the cost of my rent. So I'm paying for two apartments a month because I went to school. I think college is great for the life experience but it doesn't really set you up for "success" the way teachers say it will. If you're not sure what you want to do but think it may involve needing a Bachelor's Degree, take some time at a community college to at least get your gen eds out of the way at a cheaper costs.

    2. There are plenty of alternative routes for having a career that schools don't talk about. My most successful friend graduated high school and ran away to portland and LITERALLY flipped burgers until he got his realtor license. . . he is richer and more successful than any of my friends. If you are female, and you get a trade like welding, you are guaranteed a job at any site. . . and honestly trade school is WAAAY cheaper than college (heating and cooling costs like . . . 15,000 dollars [vs 100,000 dollars?) to get trained in. And like, everyone NEEDS heating and cooling so ur guaranteed work). Hell I made more money when I was a waitress than what i do now WITH MY MASTER'S DEGREE!

    3. If you DO wanna go to college and go undecided, DONT do it because of ego or because all your friends are doing it. Do it so you can have the life lessons. I went to my undergrad because they had a really well known religious studies course. Being at that school shaped my worldview...having that sort of understanding of myself and what I believe was kinda worth the debt? Like, I could have gotten a BA in psychology for like. . .40k less elsewhere but what 40k for the cost of inner peace? (LOL)

. . . IDK if any of this makes sense. If you want to ask me specifics, I'd be happy to help you sort through some of you future questions.

Might be a good time to do some soul searching, go explore, read books on topics you're interested in, spirituality can help with this. There's literally no rush bc there's only the present moment. Rather than thinking about what job you want to do, it might help to think about what you want out of life, and then once you know that you can choose a job that will help you achieve it.
