It was stated that he looks similar to Athy's papa so it could be his brother that was supposed to be dead. After all it was also shown on Athy's dream that that guy was asking Jenette to leave him... just binged watched this whole thing and I absolutely loved it ;-; so sad that it ended on a cliffhanger though. On another note, I really dislike Jenette. Not because she was originally supposed to be the main character and caused athanasia to die in the original story line, but because she is soooooo fucking suspicious and sketchy. I just don't trust her. Plus her ribbon that she gave to Athanasia caused her to overflow with unstable magic. I know that her character isn't doing any of this on purpose, but it is just because that her body itself is a curse and she curses everyone around her.
