Yes, that's how I see it also. Diesel feels in debt to Yanek for taking him away from a traumatic and horrible situation. He's so afraid of being alone and Yanek offers him that feeling of safety at the moment. While he knows Ein's up to something, Ein is also another person who has shown him kindness.
Diesel not trying protect Yanek. He knows that police investigeted him and takes information about him, he did nothing to warn Yanek.
Diesel doesn't care about Yanek, what good showing his behavior.
He immendiately run to warn Ein, but he can't do this like per months to Yanek.
This chapter good show that Yanek cares about Diesel, but Diesel only manipulate him. It's sad specially after what Yanek did for him.

It's obvious that Diesel was trying to protect both Ein and Yanek. He didn't want Yanek to get arrested and he didn't want Ein to die. So he's trying to scare Ein off and he lied to Yanek to protect Yanek and Ein.
Also, you can cut Ein and Diesel's sexual tension with a knife. I feel like Diesel has true feelings for Ein but has instincts towards Yanek and it confuses him.
