Mani had been the target of bulling for five years at that point and I think he may have cut his hair out of self-loathing after he was hurt that time. Cutting his hair, always wearing long sleeves and long pants, just anything to stop being differant and to blend in.

Wait, did Mani cut off his hair or was he attacked? Cuz his shirt is ripped too... I can't tell, because either way would technically make sense.
