If Eli actually does betray Sam it might actually be his ex-girlfriend, who killed him because he slept with Sam.
If that's Eli's ex, Sam would have brought this up. But the only time Eli 'cheated' on Sam was when he fell in love with Roneve. It's possible but unlikely. Sam is literally his stalker. There's no way he wouldn't know about Eli's gf.

Random Thought: Maybe the girl was another angel, that fell in love with Sam from way back when and hates Eli for "stealing" Sam from her.
OR she's sent as a deliberate enforcer by the gods (to suit you're theory), to try and keep them apart.
Roneve might have been a demon in the past too, who was in love with Eli from the sidelines....and also sent to interfere whenever possible.
Something's obviously up if BOTH of them keep reappearing like that, when neither were involved in the soul contract to begin with.

-who was behind the wheel of the car that struck Eli
-who poisoned him
-how exactly Eli drowned
-the full context from when she stabbed him
-or the rest of his deaths.**
So, either Roneve or Girl could be Eli's murderer(s).

I think Sam is really in the dark about Eli dying from his so called "ex-gf". If not Sam would have said smthng about it. Or maybe to Sam the girl might be a random girl that he didn't know at all. Only the girl knew both of them. It's so shady like how on Eli's current reincarnation both Roneve and the girl is somehow connected to him instead of Sam.. it's not a surprise if the gods are trying to get rid of Eli from Sam's life until they succeed because Eli is a demon after all while Sam is an angel. He must be an important figure because he mentioned how he used to be a "loyal servant". However Eli changed everything.
