"Rubbing Alcohol can help cool a fever" it says

Also: "Some parents actually massage it onto their little ones' feverish skin or add it to their bath water to help bring a fever down. It is important you know that using isopropyl alcohol to cool a fever can have very serious health consequences."

I have heard of it before but never tried it. My parents usually just used cold water and a cotton cloth instead though... (I was kinda weak as a child, so I often got sick) But once they overdid it (I can barely remember) and I was rushed to the hospital....

I actually just saw a vid mentioning the effect of rubbing alcohol like this.. Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) evaporates quickly (quicker than water). When a liquid turns into gas it needs heat to evaporate, and it takes the heat of the body on which it stays, essentially cooling it down. In this case, alcohol on skin will draw the heat from the skin would cause you to feel a cooling effect.
However, too much exposure to alcohol, & it’s fumes, can have bad consequences.

Wow, that's actually kinda dangerous (for kids below 10 atleast) For rubbing alcohol on kids, the side effects only happen in case of overdose (alcohol poisoning etc) But brandy with milk is almost not a good idea! (unless you specifically ask the doctor and be careful with the dosage)

Well... Asian parents what do you expect? If we don't go to a doctor, we mostly work on what's logical. I was Always sick when I was a baby, vomiting, coughing, fevers, etc. So my mom's direct thoughts were to force the heat out of my body. Alcohol warms the body and coupled with the fever, it makes it very easy to perspire. On most days, it would be easier to just leave the house and try to work out some sweat under the sun, but it was late and I couldn't sleep while running such a high fever so. Brandy was mixed into my milk TwT

So my parents were always in touch with my pediatrician (my mom even had his wife's personal number) They were also extremely careful with the medica
