I wasn't riffing off your mention of dramas. Just that I enjoy J-dramas (when I can find them, likewise K-dramas), and I enjoy being able to watch 9 or 13 or 16 episodes and be done, although I appreciate added seasons for some shows I've liked that carried on, because the seasons were similarly compact (unlike so many American TV shows that go on for season after season and I get bored and drop them, with rare exceptions.)
And considering how many American shows go on for years--some for 20+--Americans can do that, too. But most of the J-Dramas I've seen are pretty short. One reason I got hooked. If I see a drama--any nation--goes on for more than 20 or so episodes, I just don't even bother watching unless I get so many recommendations from people whose taste is like mine that I'll dip in and try it. I want to be able to finish a drama before I retire. :)
This is an opinion I can respect. I also feel that the recent (I say recent but it’s been a good year or so hasn’t it?) have been rather lack luster in comparison to the earlier chapters. I loved the Heel sibling arc, it really revealed a lot about Ren as an individual, an actor, his past, and his feelings for Kyoko. I wouldn’t say that ALL of Kyoko’s roles have been a “safe place,” since Setsu was supposed to be in love with her brother -and we did see Kyoko struggle with it.
As for how she believes in fairies, well I personally don’t have a problem with it. People are allowed to believe in gods, spirits, demons, ghosts, etc. It does seem more childlike, but I don’t see that as a particularly bad thing.
I’m honestly expecting there to be some developement soon in either the acting or romantic aspect of Kyoko’s life. It appears that Moko will be making some rather large advancement in her acting career, and I think this may possibly spark something in Kyoko -moreover, her Momiji role is a romantic one, albeit a one sided one. But even then that’s an improvement, and I think she may come to empathize with the character so much to the point where she begins to realize a lot about her own romantic feelings. I also feel like Ren has been rather proactive lately. After the end of the recent chapter the mangaka seems to be hinting at some real turmoil between characters (which always comes with inner conflict).
Honestly, if we compare the chapters to the earlierones, it does feel like theres a significantly less amount important information and dialogue right now. However, I also feel like this arc, as calm as it may appear, has thrown in quite a lot. There are small things here and there that will eventually become larger more important matters. Kyoko thinking that ren really actually has someone that he likes was a huge blow for her, and that in-itself has probably pressed a few buttons in her brain. Theres Ren who is even more restless about Kyoko and Sho’s relationship than ever before, and he’s been taking a little more action to show that he likes her (but not quite enough to guarantee that she will notice), and then as I mentioned earlier, there’s Moko who is making some interesting advancements in her career.
There’s a calm before the storm, and I felt like this arc (or at least this portion of the arc) was that calm.
Let’s take a moment to remember that it’s been less than a two years that have passed in the manga, so I don’t think Kyoko being emotional towards Sho is unusual. I could have sworn that there were times where they actually converse normally without the kicking or yelling, but I can’t recall exactly when. Regardless, I think even after it’s all said and done the cat dog relationship will remain. At this point I think they’re both just going to find being combative with eachother as comfortable (and I say this from personal experience lol), I don’t think that’s a reflection of being immature or of not being an adult.
well, this explain a lot. what the majority wants in this website is not reflecting the actual demand from readers of skip beat.
and here i wonder why the 'slow' pace never bug me, turns out me reading shonen and shoujo manga for the past 20 years (yes i've been saving money to buy mangas since my elementary days) makes me more or less in line with the japanese reader's taste.
I read and enjoy a lot of shoujo and I was introduced to manga by Shounen (BLEACH). Bleach is one of the very few LONG ones I read to the very end. I dropped One Piece. I dropped Naruto. But I've read several that go up to the hundreds, like Shinkeki No Kyojin. But I perceive MOVEMENT in those I stay with. With this, well, I guess after 17 years, I'd think there would be more progress. Still, it's funny as heck. That's why I keep coming back every few months (though I did take more than a year off once). Humor. I like the mangaka's humor.
From rereading it, youll find that it's actually a decent pace for her romance, history revelation, and career. It just feels slow because it updates slowly. Want it to end already? Then stop reading. I sure as hell dont want a half-baked and rushed ending. Losing your patience? Be free to do so. The author is not inclined to care about readers losing patience in her own work. Enjoying the actual manga? My friend, so do I.
So don't mind me just a comment about the actual chapter passing by. I'm more curious what Kyouko told Sho in that joking friendly manner. It did not look like an act at all from Ren's pov. I hope next chapters reveal what they talked about ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
