i mean the "Like kissing complete strangers!" can depend on the country you are from, for example kissing(cheeks) is a greeting here in the country i live at so yeah people will indeed kiss complete strangers(not a random person ofc but ye) because thats just good manners.
tho i personally prefer a handshake.
Sorry, rant ahead!
God, the first story had me pissed off from the moment that "teacher" stepped in. I couldn't bring myself to read any further, sorry!
I used to teach in Japan for couple of years, and stories like these give trouble to both the foreigners living there, and to the so called returnees as well. Returnees are Japanese who have spent several years outside of Japan.
This sort of story just fuels this ever-present stereotype of the rude foreigner that hugs and kisses everyone and anyone and doesn't respect other ppl's private space! Like kissing complete strangers! On first sight! I had to convince a hell lot of students, that the majority of foreigners is NOT like that - I've never met anyone behaving like that in my entire life! And Japanese returnees don't behave like that either!! Yes, lots of them have trouble fitting back in, as society sees them as weird strangers. Even though they're Japanese! But they don't act like wild lunatics on the run! Such a load of BS!
Rant over.
