For the love part I think it was intentionally left for the readers to see how it happened. Like those implicit ones, totally opposite the explicit ones where they literally think of why they're feeling such thing. This manga can't also show the slow process because of the short chapters. But I strongly believe this is one of those purposely leaves you wondering about their feelings (kinda like an irl vibe, people are complex and can't easily be understood).
For me Taichi loved how Fuji was still there waiting for him even after working on his laptop (the panel that showed Fuji saying "you done?"). It reminded him of how his previous lovers left when he wasn't able to give them the attention they needed, which Fuji is totally opposite of.
As for Fuji, he slowly learned to like Taichi. Taichi helped him even though he was a stranger. He kept pushing Fuji away but was still kind to Fuji. And the thought that Fuji said "He's just like the others... A one night stand", but in the morning Taichi showed how regretful he was but still continued to be kind and didn't want to merely view Fuji as a sex tool. This inclined Fuji to stay. I think too, that, at that time Fuji was lonely and his love for Taichi was greatly influenced by how he wanted warmth during that lonely period.
no way, thank you for your reply! i appreciate you expressing your opinion. i totally get what you mean by the irl vibe. i know most people don't declare their feelings, or say what they think/mean/feel always. those moments, when we perceive them becoming closer, are totally valid in my eyes as well. i guess i just would have preferred more affection and demonstrative proof of his love on taichi's part. or maybe even the writer showing us the moment when taichi realizes he cares for fuji. that would have been nice. i also really like it when writers let us in on their characters' thoughts, so that we don't have to keep speculating (unless it's a suspense/mystery genre XD). to be honest, i read this because i loved the mangaka's other scanlated story on this site. THAT one was superb. <3
i thought that one scene where he bought the meds for hemorrhoids was proof that he cared LOL he's definitely not the type to be all affectionate, i know guys like that who aren't vert good at showing how they care but they actually do. they weren't even in a proper relationship before that car scene. fuji was the one who said said to use him as a sex tool. i suppose somewhere in between those days when taichi was clearly feeling self-conscious about fuji's intentions and the way his mind wanders back to him was the turning point of his feelings.
besides, the clear panic on taichi's face and immediate explanation so fuji doesn't feel like he's being cheated on with that female underwear was a nice touch. he said and i quote "since i've known you, i haven't let anyone else into the house" ANNNNND taichi said he loved him in chapter 6. uwu
They weren't in a relationship so neither of them don't have any right to feel like the other should be committed. Taichi said it himself, "It's not like we were lovers or anything but..." and Fuji knew it himself that he was the one who initiated the whole sex tool/sex friends thing. They weren't boyfriends. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
casual sex, no feelings, fuji pops in the apartment from time to time. this is a manga that's basically sex friends to lovers type of deal. they knew nothing about each other apart from what makes the other feel good, like what fuji said. after meeting up from time to time (things started moving after the business trip), that's when feelings started to come up. i thought he was pretty obvious since we were mainly following his pov.
those tiny scenes before the car scene--- that bit where they were interlocking hands while having sex, that near kiss scene just before the hemorrhoid note, taichi looking away while blushing during the bar scene after coming to the bar multiple times with his coworker, being able to look past fuji's fake smiles, wondering if fuji had other partners, giving fuji some time when the other asked for it in the note, hoping to at least have lunch together (not just meet and fuck)... yeah. (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
but fuji ain't exactly an angel either. that dude's been crashing in taichi's place despite the latter saying "can we not?" multiple times, he's not obliged to follow fuji, letting him use the shower and shit cuz his workplace is near taichi's apartment but in the end taichi just went with the other guy's pace. neither of them are obligated to be in a committed "sex friend" relationship if that's even a thing lol.
but couldn't. not to say that i didn't LIKE it, but the love just wasn't quite there for me. it was a backwards love story after all (rutting before dating/love), but i didn't feel fuji was wrong when he said he was in a one-sided thing. taichi was unapologetic about how selfish he was, and fuji was so forgiving about everything (mainly, he just didn't cherish himself, or think he deserved more). it was not balanced in the least, and that's why my heart never felt full. i mean, they seriously moved in together without ever declaring their feelings?? and taichi never showed any regard for fuji. if it were me, i would feel so empty and sad, constantly worrying about my mate's needs, and not getting anything in return (besides sex, i guess). =_= i suppose taichi came around in the end, but that was hella late...
