Without seeing the raws I was still so sure that they'd stay together. The Alpha made a huge point about choosing to be partners with his friend and not just doing it because of the heat. He also assured him that they didn't need to have children if he didn't want to, that it would be a choice rather than a biological impulse. There's no reason to believe that he'd allow a fated mate to take away his choice and give in to compulsion. Still... who I feel for most is Taiga. Not only did his lover refuse to pair with him because he was waiting for "the one" but then he has to witness his lover breakdown as he's refused by his fated partner and even carry him crying, kicking, screaming for another man. That boy deserves all the love in the world.
