you know, you are right, maybe you are few of the people who realize that Otani is a real bastard lover, he is a real bad boyfriend, and the last 26 chapters there is no much difference. He makes up for it immensely?? where!!!!! I read the whole manga, I saw the anime and the movie, and I only liked the movie, even so was hard to see because Risa suffered so much and shed many tears. It would have been worth to read, if at least the last chapter would have been different, because they already have time dating, but it was completly horrible, Otani spoke on a cold and indifferent way to Risa after three weeks of not seen each other, and the worst part is when he forgot her birthday (come on, is a horrible way to act of Otani because he has time dating Risa) he gives Risa a gift but not for his own initiative but for the claiming of his friends, even he never felt any pain of regret for his mistake, is even worst the way he gives the roses to risa (he threw the roses to her) is there any meaning of feeling in that gift, that moment was outrageous for me, poor Risa. Indeed, the most hurtful part, really hurtful was what you said (he had treated his ex nicely), if any person realizes is that Otani gives a turn of 180 degrees when it come to his ex, is completly oposite to Risa, he declare his love to his ex in a special way, he treated her very nicely, gave her gifts and spoke sweet to her, that's why Risa is portrayed like a weak girl with lack of self esteem , she take all the violence of Otani (mistreat mentally, emotionally and verbal) in order to fullfill the necessity to correspond her feelings, is not worth to fight for Otoani, she never realize there are better guys than him, worth of Risa.
All in all was a sad story mixed with some funny moments, but it would have been better if Otani remains as a friend of Risa forever.

i've only read upto 40 chapters so i cant judge about the whole manga but till that ch my opinion that otani is a bastard and that koizumi deserves someone better hasnt changed.he treats his girlfriend so harshly,any girl would feel bad after hearing she doesn't look cute or looks weird from her boyfriend and he had treated his ex nicely but is so crude with her
