Bored from the beginning

Omg same! I totally agree. There are so many recommendations to katekyo but its so focused on sex I found it hard to read and keep scrolling. I hate dropping manga in general so I have to take a break after finishing one chapter. It's really boring and not entertaining at all!! At least I need a little story. (btw sorry for my bad English (￣∇￣"))

Same sentiments. I don't get the high ratings either. Plus the story and characters are meh (for me) but to each their own.

Well, this manga was written in 2008! Far far far before yaoi literature has grown and developed to become like it is now. This is like one of the most decent one at that time. Yes, the story is pretty cliche, but this is a classic. Along with Junjou Romantica and etc. Not as classic as Ai No Kusabi though. More like it belongs to the second or third wave of modern yaoi literature. If you know, at that time, majority of yaoi has no plot at all. It is literally, yama nashi ochi nashi imi nashi (yaoi), the original meaning of the term yaoi, which means, no point, no climax, no meaning. If you look it up early yaoi story, basically it's just that. Smut, with cliche romance, and often full of rape and blackmail. So, it is not fair, in my opinion, if you trash this manga around, compare that to tons of new yaoi which is written with a new perspective. Especially after you have read thousands of these modern yaoi manga.

I don't see what the high ratings have anything to do with the history, it doesn't change the fact that this manga is not that special to have a high rating like other mangas, no matter whether they were published ten years ago or recently. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this manga is bad but I know a lot of yaoi mangas that are way older and way better than this one.

The ratings were probably given mostly when the chapters have been published. It was years before. Not now. I remembered reading those at mangago old website in 2010. Now, might you see the connection?

As I remembered, mangago transfer over the ratings to the new site, but reupload all the chapters. Even if it is not so, then it is still that people have read them at least 5 years ago.

Anyway, I just explained that to answer why because people were wondering so. When I read the story in 2010 it felt great, compared to others. But when read it again 2 or 3 years ago, it sure fluffy, but lacks oomph. Same with other stories like yamane ayano’s stories, kirepapa, koisuru boukun, etc. When I reread them, it feels they were not as good as when I read them years ago.

If not, another reason is just that there are more people like this fluffy story and appreciate it more. Your taste, and mine too, are different from those people who rate them high.
