I never expected that the author would introduce such a twist. I kinda had my suspicions when Dranste said the reason she could remember her past life was because of her blood and her pink hair was a sign of that, but Caitel's hair had a more similar color to hers than her mother's and he didn't remember anything about a past life (I know that Dranste didn't specifically say that everyone had a past life but I think he kind of implied it).
That's kinda the vibe I got from the curse as well :'(.
I hope that's not how it ends up panning out, or the curse gets broken somehow, etc. He's changed in a lot of ways since becoming Ria's father, and having the daughter he loved so much being the one to kill him?! Owch. Like, seriously, too cruel Σ(っ°Д °;)っ
I really really hate to say this :’(... but if a serial killer, brutally murders people in his past...is he innocent for all those deaths just because he one day gets a family and decides on a wim to not kill again?
I know this is a manga and don’t get me wrong, I like Caitel he’s an amazing complicated character, but it doesn’t change the facts in the story universe he was a really bad man...and a trying father... ╥﹏╥ I’m sorry don’t hate me!!
Goodness, why would I hate you?! I think you've definitely got a fair point.
I do think there's something to be said for forgiveness and that no one is beyond redemption and a second chance, but they should be genuinely remorseful and truly not want to do anything like that again (though most serial killers wouldn't feel this). Caitel changing on a whim certainly doesn't change everything.
But I feel like his situation is also different than being a serial killer going around murdering people. He's not getting off on killing people, he's the king of a conquering nation. His upbringing was seriously F'ed up and filled with politics, intrigue, his nanny and servants (the only people who really cared about him) being brutally murdered and him becoming a soldier and getting revenge--from what I gathered, his big change was in an effort to not be powerless like that again, and he's definitely aware of the terribleness of his actions (based on his relationship with/conversations with Asisi).
I'm definitely not condoning his actions, but I think there is a possibility for redemption for him beyond either dying or simply becoming nice on a whim :)
Can we be friends? ╥﹏╥ xD also I didn’t mean just you to hate me... I was maybe a little harsh with serial killer... but he kill others just because their trying to console him and he get annoyed like a child. Caitel is such a complicated character.. I love it!! ^_^ I agree with everything your saying. Especially with the scenes with Asisi... it obvious he sees Asisi as I sorta pure version of himself of some sort..
So, It was the MOTHER'S bloodline that allows her to see Dranste?! Very interesting, I actually didn't see that coming. I thought it was the faint fairy/spirit blood in her from her Royal daddy over there. I'm curious to see how this affects the story in the long-run
