I've seen a couple of people on this site who are Muslim or from a Muslim family, which is why I'm taking the chance of asking my question here. It's just something that popped into my head while cramming for a religion test. As far as I've understood, fasting happenes between sunrise and sunset in the month of Ramadan, right? And is a pretty important part of the religion altogether. But what would one do if one lived in North-Norway or any other part within the arctic circle where the sun never sets in summer and never rises in winter?
They follow their fatwa which is a ruling on a point of Islamic law given by a recognized authority. And their fatwa said that they can use mecca's time for fasting.

Ohh. Thank you very much. This was not explained in our schoolbook, so I was confused as to how one would accustom the religious practice to different locations. Thanks for explaining it to me ^^
