I'd like to know if and how you told your family/friends about the content you're reading and do you buy those manga/merch..? Can you place it on your shelf without feeling shame or guilt?
As for me if anybody find out about the skeletons in my cupboard, I would be clearly dead o.O and my mom would definitely burn everything down

I wish I could help but I’m an adult with it on my shelf with no shame... I do still hide self promotion from family though .. like I’ll post then delete on Instagram and I’m 25 yrs old. So it’s normal to feel nervous, but know that you never have to be ashamed of it. It’s a hobby just like anything else :)

Oh its good to know not to be alone. Thank you and psst I hide it in boxes above my wardrobe. I mean yaoi feels somehow like porn you know, I couldn't tell anyone about^^

And this is the problem of "how to say about it".
Husband knows and supports me, niece,
my mom knows but she does not care (she prefers books)
and as for friends - for my mental health they only know
    that I read manga,
as you can see only a small group knows about it, but it's
    nothing, it's good for me
and how my mother found out - the manga lay on the table,
she took it, looked at it, commented, and that's all.
manga, I have in drawers and on shelves, but none of my
friends knew what topic is behind the titles
I buy in stores and on the Internet :)
shame and guilt were at first how I started the adventure
with yaoi, but now there is no place for such feelings,
I laugh at people who are embarrassed when
they see what I'm looking at in the store
To say or not to say it probably depends on what kind of
    parents or friends you have,
are they able to understand what is yaoi / shounen-ai??

Oh lucky you :) my family is really conservative and homophobic too, guess I have to keep this as a secret. My friends do know about my interests in manga/anime but not in that specific way^^ they won't understand it either. So I was very happy when I found out this website <3
