I've made researchs and there are numerous sites relating the case. This is just terrific, not even a joke, sadly.
I'm a french of chinese origins and I can say, reading the articles, that even if China has made a lot of progress in many domains, the country still has a long way to go.
10 years for writing a homo erotic fiction, FIC-TION, WTF?!
There a large and growing public for those lectures, the Government should have known that those who write and read these fictions are for the most... women and girls!

I'm drawing myself and write stories (most are BL), I wish to become a Mangaka and seriously, regarding this matter, I'm so releaved to live in France for now. I hope China and the conservatives Ministers that live there will change their attitude about Yaoi-BL, all this is just so pathetic and a discrimination against homosexuality. Even rapists in China and men who had beaten their wives to death were punished with less severe sentences!
Society has changed, it's time for China to know this!

I'm so grateful for the information and I totally agree with everything you are saying, it's so sad and terrifying. All my prayers and sympathy goes to all BL writers in China that now have to stop their passion for writing because of this stupid law of censorship, that censor art, creativity and free speech. I can't believe such violent laws, prejudice & discrimination against Homosexuality (LGBT+) are still prevalent in this time and age. As you say Society has changed and China has to do so too.
I hope you continue doing what you love and become successful and achieve your goal of becoming a Mangaka. All my best wishes to you.

Thank you so much for your encouragements and kind words. I need to work harder to become a Mangaka ^^
The good thing for the artists living in the West (Europe, US...) is that we'll never face the same law of censorship or have our books discriminated because of the nature of its content. Creativity is encouraged in art there; there are boundaries, but not the same.
The problem brought by this case is that, BL artists of western lands can't go in China anymore because of that censorship : they may face imprisonment or problems.

China censors porn and "obscene contents", and many other kind of cultures, things... (there was a huge scandal about Rap music there no long ago...). I think the main purpose of the Chinese Government is to ban any kind of content that can "corrupt the minds" of the population and divert them from their goals. So they've put some very harsh law on "porn" (whatever real or fictions...). But since the Government doesn't even look at the particularities of the (yaoi) case and its audience, they've said some pathetic sentence : 10 years for a BL writer, while only few years were put for rapists and abusers. That's some ridiculous lawsuit; and this can only worsen the reputation of China, already known and bashed in the rest of the world as a "Dictature". If that law doesn't change at least for the Art community specifically, that simply means that whoever Chinese artist living in the West will never be able to go back or visit their country of origin anymore, either; this will be a huge hindrance for Art to express itself and this Yaoi culture particularly; disconfort and fear will reign amongst the authors as much as their readers. It'll have impacts socially, culturally and economically; it's not just a simple case.

While China has finally reached a bit Japan and the rest of the world in the comic world, this case will bring the country few decades back.

Yeah, my fears too... Though, Mangago is already illegal, and there are very few Chinese BL that are explicit, more here are Shonen-ai so I think it'll be okay.
But sure, those who like to write and draw, read harcore in China won't feel free to do so...
This case is so ridiculous it makes me sad and mortified, honestly. Never a Yaoi author or the fans had done bad to anyone; yaoi is just a distraction, it's not like we're naked and doing porn and show it to the world. But we can be jailed 10 years for writing it, while the rapists and abusers don't even get the punishment they should deserve.
I will never go back to China is that fucking law doesn't change for us, yaoi fans!
