Please stop comparing this to YOI, don't know the authors intentions.
It doesn't matter what her intention was or whether she purposely made her characters look like YOI characters or it was an accident.
They still do LOOK like Yuuri and Viktor. Which is funny. Of course people are gonna comment on it.
Don't worry I'm not. Just the looks. Anyway Yuri on Ice is my favorite anime. So it's really a compliment. The story is completely different from yuri on ice obviously and I like it so far.
Artists don't like having their work compared to other works, although they look similar, the artist may not appreciate conparisons even if you have no bad intention.
Maybe it's a visual thing, but I don't care when people compare my work to other writers. I even compare it myself. If someone asks what my books are about, I tell them it's Harry Potter meets 50 Shades of Grey but in a Lord of the Rings setting. :)
And artists are not delicate little flowers. You can't create and sell your work and put yourself out there if you have thin skin. I don't want every person on the planet to tell me nice things, because that doesn't help me improve. If one of my characters is annoying, I want someone to tell me. If a chapter is boring, I want someone to tell me. If my main character is strikingly similar to a character from another book........ I DEFINITELY want someone to tell me.
Also, the characters are SO similar to YoI that there is NO WAY someone on the artist's team or an editor or a publisher didn't notice.
Harry Potter meets 50 shades of grey in a lord of the rings setting sounds very intriguing.
Not every artist likes having their work compared, I don't know the artist intentions either so I don't bother with comparing because it's rude.
