Is from novel to anime. And then they started to do ot man hua ლ(´ڡ`ლ) and i hope u do get sone news about the BL DRAMA in china. Is been protested by fan cause of the directors changing all the main stories. Is mainly a BL stories but then the director change it. Do you know Wen Qing? Wen Ning sisters. The director put Wen Qing as the main characters. And change all the scene too like Wei Ying and Jiang Chen like Wen Qing too.... so yeaaa if is real on air then i won't be watching it. Cause literally the stories is not about Mo Dao Zu Shi anymore ... ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ

Its showing his past and focusing the most on that due to censorship laws in China about showing people in Erotic or anything that could be seen as sexual relations with one another, you'll notice other series doing the same as well.
But the past shown in the show isn't shown yet in the novel, just slightly talked about and I'm already past chapter 40 in the novel, so for me watching and reading gives me the most informational and it's nice to see things on screen moving around with spoken dialogue, when those things are only spoken about in passing in the novel most of the time.
And even then the BL Drama is actually part of the novel from when he is resurrected in the Mo boy's body, they have just started getting into it in the Webtoon, but in the Previews of what I've seen so far of the Drama, it seems they may be doing the Corpse Story, where they have to find pieces of a body in a creepy village. (That was non spoiler)
Ik that china have the law... well btw what i means is that the drama is not based on the novel. Not even anime too.... is literally changing all the subjects and stories by the director. :)
The novel is completed in chinese . I already been reading in over and over again. Is entertaining. And u should too read untill the end is fun :D
You know it's top notch when story flow is good, the art as well. From manhua to anime- to BL Drama adaptation. I'm sooo waiting for the drama version in 2019.
