Those human are from the side stories which were in between the main story and yep the anime art style based on the light novel illustrations
ill watch the anime but really not happy about that 2 1/2D style reminds me of appleseed XIII
At first it did seem messy mainly because the side stories seemed to be non-related to the main story but it slowly got more interesting later as the different stories revealed many sides of thoughts and by combining the "truth" from each side we got a fact about what was actually happening to the main protagonist. Totally recommend the LN

Because the voice actor is sooooooo good!! This seiyuu is totally what I'm looking: indifferent yet kinda cute (and funny). Even though some CGIs are bad for my eyes, *cough* the dragon *cough* but I'll definitely watch it. Wonder how many chapters will be adapted to anime, hopeful till she reaches the entrance at least
