I'm from Egypt i don't know if I can help but we still listening to the old music like Om kolsoum and Abdeahaleem hafiz.
The music we make nowadays is a bit different from the old ones it's more louder and shorter

Hi there! I'm from South Africa.
Well, most of the people I know listen to more international music, the 'trending' songs or something simular.
I could be wrong, but the 'National' songs are mostly in Afrikaans here is South Africa. It's more the other countries like Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Lesotho and all of South Africa's neighbouring countries that have the other African languages and songs.
I guess artists like Steve Hofmeyr, Karen Zoid, Francios van Coke and Bok van Blerk are quite popular among the older generations here. While us younger generations listen more international artists like Ariana Grande or Ed Sheeran.
I guess nothing special really.
This probably isn't as helpful as you probably would have wished, but I'm just speaking from what I know.
