I agree! Instead of blindly racing into love, they discussed what might happen in the future and how their lives/preferences/life goals might be compatible with each other’s, like drinking habits, children, and what to do on their off-days. “Is your life practical enough to fit into mine? Is my life practical enough to fit into yours?” Ugh, I loved it.
Hm, that’s sort of what I was referring to, though. Romance stories that focus too much on angst/fluff/drama/smut - the stories that have too much “heart-thumping” plots. It sets the bar too high, sometimes, in the relationships the readers seek in real life. Life isn’t a manga where people will run to you in the rain and hear your tragic backstory, or excuses for all the drama. Others have feelings. People will cut you out before you can even begin your speech. What I enjoyed about this story was how light the drama was, the quickness in which they resolved it, and how practically they approached their relationship.
Though I do agree, I don’t deny how enjoyable a smut with nicely written drama + fluff is. :)
I mean, we all love a good ol’ heart-thumping, grand romance. But oftentimes it sets the bar too high on the relationships we seek/have. This manga was fantastic tbh, especially when it looks at the reality of finding romance when you’re 1.) Nearing 30 years old 2.) You have access to a narrow dating pool 3.) Rather than grandiose love, you instead seek quiet, stability, common goals, and long-term happiness. I love this manga. It was paced nicely, too.
