I cannot judge you on how you perceive things but have you no heart? He's an outcast, the parents that supposed to support him is abusing him mentally and emotionally and the guy he thought that would make him out of that misery added to the injury.

Can't you see, the result in all of that is him being an asshole, cold and distant. But this is not him. He is wearing a mask to avoid himself in getting hurt again. If you can see, how he is friendly and kind to those people not close to him but acted an asshole if you are able to reach the deepest part of him.
