This is possibly the best manga out here, the art and the characters are so great! And their relationships are always giving me a twist. It should be rated 10/10

But other GREAT mangas/manwha’s Killing Stalking & Blood Bank. They’ve hella good and interesting stories like Wolf in the house.

I don't remember if I read Killing Stalking, so I can't really vouch for it.

But I've read Blood Bank and I think it was its only saving point was the art. In terms of plot development, characters depth & interactions, and story pacing, I dispute the claim that it can compete with Wolf in the House.

It may be interesting, if we're talking preferences (in this case, to each their own), but I personally didn't think it was interesting at all.

I can only think of few works of Yamada Yugi that can compete, tbh.

To each their own, I agree. And for me, I'll still include Blood Bank in my top10 greatest yaoi (atm since I'm reading new titles every now and then). I find the plot and characters interesting. It has a different appeal from Wolf is in the House, but both are really good. I think a major let down for Blood Bank is its rushed ending.

I thought it was too predictable, and some of the conflicts were entirely avoidable. I also didn't like the characters. But I see what you're talking about when you say they have different appeals.

I really like that Wolf in the House doesn't fall for old cliches. I expected Diesel to become Minsuk's rival for Bexan's love, and for Pablo to become Ein's rival for Diesel, because that's the old yaoi cliche that new characters are there to steer jealousy. But they turned out to become good friends and allies, and I'm loving it. The conflicts moving the plot forward are not threats to make them doubt their love or to break the couple up (which is a huge criticism I make to Hidoku Shinaide).

I'd include What Lies At The End, Nemuri Otoko to Koi Otoko, Close the last door, BJ Alex and Strawberry Combat among my top 10.

Ah, definitely good series you included.
There’s a bunch of awesome series (if you only count yaoi/shounen ai)!
The ones I write are absolutely just a few (& those who pop up on instinct)

Everything you said in the first two sentences apply to BJ Alex, the plot is very predictable (although the concept is interesting at first) and the characters have no depth to them. I'm not writing this to attack you really, but I don't get how you could say those about Blood Bank -which I also think doesn't deserve being compared to a masterpiece like Woolf in the House- and put BJ Alex in your top 10

I agree with you and in fact I mentioned BJ Alex can be accused of being predictable and the conflicts are entirely of their own making (tho I deleted this part in the end for the sake of relevance).

The thing with BJ Alex is that it's... satisfying (I can't find the right word in English, sorry).

The author gave us a plot that had everyone have very strong feelings about the situation (the comments section of that story is crazy). I think that's a plus over BB.

Even tho the outcome was very predictable, it was also very much desired by the readers, so it was satisfying to read. I believe it can be forgiven for being so predictable when they are giving us exactly what we wanted and raged about on the comments about for over 40 chapters.

And part of this was the characters' development. DG had a noticeable character growth and Jiwon's backstory explains a lot.

I suppose so, to each their own.

(Which is why this whole thread amuses me - people feel the need to come here to dispute my preference for Wolf in the House and BJ Alex and praise Blood Bank just to end up saying 'to each their own').

umm no my intention wasn't to defend Blood Bank at all, and the reason everybody ends up saying that is that it's a peaceful way to end the talk before it turns into an unnecessary and immature argument; it doesn't mean we suddenly to agree with you

    Clouds November 11, 2018 10:41 pm

The author is great, I prefer Momentum, but Diesel and Ein's characters & story in this one are great. It's rare to read yaoi that doesn't just rely on the lazy unrealistic cliches like you pointed out, and has a diverse range of characters without stereotyping. There aren't any awful "ukes" and "semes" stereotyping for one. The pacing, dialogue, plot all come off as a bit more "mature" from this author. At first I was put off by the supernatural theme, but gave it a go on the back of just how good Momentum was, and it did not disappoint, the right balance of comedy without coming off as childish.

That's not what I meant at all. We all in the end agree that to each their own, so why bother coming to tell me you disagree with me about my preferences in the first place, y'know? That's pretty immature to begin with.

I haven't read Momentum yet, but I'm in love with this author. I hope to read in the future.

You said everything I like about this story, the lack of cliche and stereotypes, and the humor is really good. It is, indeed, not childish.

I was put off by the cover tbh, specially considering that Make Me Bark was all the rage when I started reading this, so I thought it would be something similar. I'm really happy I gave this a chance.

I was counting only yaoi in my list, indeed. I mostly read romantic relationships in yaoi due to the troublesome portrayal of girls in manga (tho it's been a while since I've tried, so I might be missing out on great things). But if I were to include other genres, I'd say only this yaoi would make my top 10.

Just checked and haven't tried killing stalking yet, I'll give it a try!

Ah, the portrayal of girls are quite bad no matter genre & that’s why I can’t think of any girl character I like - at all lol
And Killing Stalking must be my favorite, Koogi (the author) really knows how to get readers curious, anxious, trick them etc etc + She has a clown chapter or two in it so I pretty much skipped it to 100% :)) (lol)

I just wondered if you could point out to me a side of it that I haven't considered before, that made you love the manhwa; so that I could understand why you would put it in your top 10. But you couldn't so that was that and I tried to end the conversation.

I in fact listed many facts why I personally put it in my top 10 yaoi. You disagreed, because you don't think so. It's your preference, it's not right nor wrong.

Which brings me to my point in the first place: why did you feel the need to come to smo's comment to question their preferences to begin with, if in the end they are particular to each person?

Nothing against a good discussion about manga, ofc. But I don't have to convince you that this or that manga deserves to be in my top 10. People don't have to defend their right to like or dislike something for it to be valid.

I admit the cover put me off bc I thought it was a dj for attack on Titan.

I like many girls in manga when they are not romance. I'm particularly fond of Vitamin, it's kind of a Shoujo, but it calls bs on many toxicity girls are subjected to. I love that author tbh. Hope is also a great one.
