The ring carries a lot of significance for the ill man because he bought it for the both of them when they were relatively poor and he saved up his money to buy it.

When the tall man first lost it, he tried finding it but when the ill man asked him about it, he would avoid the topic saying that must have left it somewhere, he will find it. Soon, they stopped bringing it up.

It’s later revealed that the side chick took the ring from the tall man when they first began their affair and the side chick went to the house of the ill man to tell him to leave the tall man because he loves him a lot and can’t live without him.
This is after the tall man was confronted and finally decided to cut off all his flings outside to be with the ill man.

I think the suicide part was implied in the After story 2. I so wanna read the novel, I tried using google translate but since translation is nowhere accurate I just could not get to the real emotion... just gave up

In the last After story: Letter from JiangWentXu, JiangWenXu metioned in the letter that "fourteen years ago when you (HeZhiShu) left home secretly" and "After you (HeZhiShu) left this world half a year ago, my heart disease slowly run away (?not sure how to translate the "run away" part)". He wrote the letter in March 17th, 2016.
In the second After story, JiangWentXu said that he would wait four years after HeZhiShu died before he came find him.
So I think HeZhiShu died in 2015.
In my opinion, if the doctor did not tell JiangWentXu that HeZhiShu's last words were "I don't want him to live a happy life. Alive or dead, I don't want to meet him ever again" to get revenge on JiangWentXu, JiangWentXu would have committed suicide right after HeZhiShu died in 2015. The doctor wanted JiangWentXu to continue living to suffer the same pain that HeZhiShu did. That's why JiangWentXu waited four years before coming for HeZhiShu (as he loved him dearly for 10 years and then mistreated him for 3/4 years).

In the end of the main story, Wenxu repeated the same lines as he hallucinated the happy days after the doctor delivered the news that Zhishu has passed.

I don't know which letter it is but we can assume that he began writing letters the year that followed Zhishu's death. Which is probably 2015.
He gave himself four years of loneliness in order to atone for the suffering he put Zhi Shu through the last four years of his life.
Afterwards, he decided to follow Zhishu no matter where he is now. If he finally accepts his death, Wenxu will follow after.

It is more or less implied that he gave himself the deadline of four years as atonement. Afterwards, if he finally accepts the fact that Zhishu has left the world. He will probably leave the world to find him.

A summary of his side story:

His friend noticed that Wenxu was cutting himself from the scars and the scent of blood. Tiredly, he told him: "In the future, before doing foolish things like this, please think of Zhishu"

Afterwards, he rested in his house for half month. He stopped self-harming. Started getting his life together. Preparing meals for two. Watching and reading the things that Zhishu used to watch. He sleeps, holding onto Zhishu's clothes. He decided that he will continue living in this world.

In the doctor's side story, it tells about how he slowly fell in love with Zhishu. It began from sympathy, and slowly it developed from there. However, he knew that he wouldn't be able to compete with the long relationship Zhishu had with Wenxu.

I just finished reading this story two weeks ago, then I see the title of the manhwa and I am like “Seriously, it can’t be”. There is no sequel for this novel, just a spin-off of the couple in After story 4 (the uke got bone marrow from the person who was supposed to give bone marrow to Zhi Shu).
In chapter 66 of the spin-off, the author confirmed that Wenxu died four and a half years after Zhi Shu died. (The uke of the spin-off died due to rejection after bone marrow transplant. He died not long before Zhi Shu did.)
