I thought this too. But it helps if I stop thinking that he's straight and just think that he's one of those that never really knew better and is actually bi or pan. I thought I was straight until i fell hard for my best friend. So I can kind of relate. :D

That too. And yes, straight shouldn't be the default. I just had pretty conservative upbringing, might be the same for him. :P
I wasn't assuming he's straight, someone in the comments somewhere mentioned that in a Q&A further down the line the author confirms he's straight.
Dating a straight guy is a terrible idea, even more so after you've been heartbroken pursuing someone else. I know that, for the sake of the story, we want the two of them to get together, but irl I'd be encouraging YuYang to be running as far away as possible as fast as possible. Really not fond of this straight boy trope, although it can be done okay sometimes.
