Am I missing something?

I'm about 18 chapters in and this comic's pacing is throwing me...the scene splits and time gaps happen somewhat unceremoniously, and seemingly important details and lead-ins are smattered in. I really want to get into this but even the sex is hard to read because of how arbitrary the spacing of it is. All the opportunities for suspense, mystery and character developments seem slapdashed in... is this as good as it gets? The B couple is getting more (if not crude) development than the A couple, new characters are just kind of flashed at you... there is such amazing potential but because the plot is being shoved down my throat so fast I have no chance to get hooked on something before the comic drags the story forward.
