I was a fujoshi reader since I was like 13 and I never really saw the toxic part of yaoi until 2 years ago ( maybe even before ). It was probably because I was ignorant on the subject.

I grew up since then. I did a lot of thinking. Now I don't "enjoy" reading Yaoi as much as I used to.
The rape, pedophilia, incest and so on really bothered me before, and disturbed me because I was really young and didn't understand but now ? I just piss me off and I came to realize how sexualized gay/lesbian/bi people are, and it's not just in Yaoi（/TДT)/ like films, TV shows...

However ! There are few yaoi which raise awareness, "Here U are" is a good example ! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Yaoi like "Here U are" are the Yaoi I enjoy reading.

I don't know if every fujoshi are homopbic ( I hope not ) but I started reading Yaoi when I "discovered" what gay/lesbian/bi really was. My parents are homophobic, therefore I always heard bad things about LGBTQ community, so when I came across the Yaoi community, I was kinda shook ? Like there was so many people that "don't hate" queer people ? So this is when I started I guess

1) i'm generalizing the majority of people here because seriously.. if you're chill then you wouldn't have to defend yourself or anyone for that matter.

2) i never said that those unhealthy things aren't seen in heterosexual comics. hell, even lesbian comics have them. which is why it's bad. rape, incest, pedophilia, etc etc is bad in general.

3) majority of fujoshis and fudanshis sexualizes gay men and hate female characters. they dislike the idea of lesbianism, but are okay with gay men. i met one fujoshi who is "trans" because they want to be in a "gay" relationship since they fetishize it so much. they overlook the unhealthy things in a story so they can ship characters. they try to defend themselves with the statement "it's fiction!" when in fact, fiction does affect reality. these are all personal experiences. i can tell you that for a fact.

Yes of course!! Maybe I wasn't clear in my comment but I was saying that if you ship 2 characters ( factional characters ) it is okay ( in an HEALTHY relationship). My comment wasn't about an unhealthy relationship at all, but just about the shipping aspect.
