Are we reading the same manga? Because from the beginning, senpai was verbally and physically violent/abusive, issued homophobic insults. When Morinaga snaps, he has a dark "rapey" side. So, both of the, in real life, we would consider people who need to go talk to some psychologist. Now, granted, this is a partly-farcical fictional world and we accept the over-the-top stuff, but if you had a friend treated by his boyfriend the way senpai treats Morinaga, you would probably be advising them to stop taking the abuse. I would. We see senpai when he's nice and supportive, and when he has his pining moment, sure. But we also see when he's dismissive, unloving, harsh. This is not just shy and confused behavior. And when your colleagues cower from you in the lab, I doubt they would say "kind." Smart, absolutely. Hard-working. Loyal. But kindness to me is a different horse.
And to be fair, if in real life your friend got raped by their colleague while unable to fight back due to an accidentally consumed drug, you'd call the cops. Rape be rape (except in yaoi manga, of course.)
