I get where you're coming from but I think it's quite realistic to not have a sexual interest in the same gender, but then meet someone that you are sexually interested in regardless of their gender. I've been on the receiving end of that before and I don't think it can happen just with looks, but if you get to know that person during a certain psychologically vulnerable or adaptable time in your life it does happen.

It's possible, but becomes extremely suspicious when it becomes so common that gay characters in BL seem to be, ironically, a rarity.

Similarly, if a woman in fiction does the cooking and cleaning, fine. But when it becomes a universal trend and women become rarely represented in other roles, it becomes a suspicious stereotype.

Simply put, I'm not questioning its possibility, but its suspect regularity within BL.

Hey hey wait there. There is more than just 'gay' and 'straight'
He could perfectly be pansexual, bisexual or anything else. He just said he wasn't gay but didn't deny anything else.

I really hope it not "gay just for you" trope, but that later he accepts himself being gay/bi or whatever. But I can forgive this author that trope since the story is really nicely done.

Potentially a good point but I am doubtful that this author will pull an "I'm not gay I'm pan" out of the bag. I guess we'll only find out how lazy the author is choosing to be as we read on and hope for the best.

Most authors haven't heard about pansexuality, im always hoping for a bi character xD . Somebody commented that there was Q&A and that author said he's straight.
