In most BDSM stories, the authors just let their dirty imagination run wild and focus on the porn instead of a good plot. Or crappy kitsch like Shades of Grey.
So I don´t expect BDSM stories to portray BDSM in a realistic way.

It´s more of a shame to our community that abusive and other stupid "doms" exists in reality.
Pseud "doms" who think women are submissive by nature and men are dominant by nature. Or other pseud "doms" who are using submissive women to hide their inferiority complex. Or pseud "doms" who think a dom is allowed to do whatever he wants.

Lmao i agree. From what I've read (articles and stuff), subs are actually the ones who hold the most power during the play. Ya doms get to do (and say) lots of stuff, and subs are on the receiving end, but behind the set up, subs have the last say whether they need to stop or finish their whole play.

It lowkey pisses me off when I read the manhwas/mangas and see that doms get to be asswipes and subs get to be inferiors. If a dom in real life acts like the ones we read in manhwas (shitty, no respect for subs), it could be borderline abuse ╮(￣▽￣)╭

i agree. I like BDSM as a genre, but it's rare they portray it correctly. I like a lot of the aspects of the dom and sub relationship, so it's a shame they don't represent it better.

Fucking true. I honestly love bdsm and i MIGHT have a kink for it (honestly not sure bc I dont have anyone to try it with yet lmao), but I'm very particular when I read bdsm. Pisses me off when ppl praise BDSM mangas as a good representation and shit and im here like there's??? no??? proper??? consent??? like wtf??? BDSM is a damn kink, a PLAY, and not an excuse for a freaking dom to abuse his sub without proper consent AND go all out without giving a fuck on his sub (im pretty sure there's an aftercare).

[(Imma insert this bc my dumbass just had a realization after I thougth about aftercare LMAO): I'm not an expert on BDSM, but I think that the before and after care strengthens the bond of the dom and sub. No matter how "wild" the dom is during the play, helping the sub clean his/her body with the help of the dom might build the trust between each other. Let's not forget that in reality, BDSM revolves around trust between both dom and sub. The sub trusts the dom that the dom will satisfy the sub's desires but at the same time, check if the sub is still comfortable during the play. And vice versa for the dom + the dom trusts the sub that the sub will tell the dom when the sub can no longer do it. Aaahhh this is why I love bdsm in paper T_T I'm not even sure how it affects their daily lives but having that kind of trust between each other sounds beautiful akdkskdkks ╥﹏╥]

I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned. It is exactly that way. Sometimes the Dom is even in control of other aspects of their life, but as far as I know, it's all consented and trust, so too make decisions for the sub so they don't have to worry over things.
I don't know if this is always a thing, but I know with some it is. Everything is centered around trust and knowledge. People mistake all the time, being tied up and using sex toys as BDSM. I'm like, "no, he is just confining and raping the poor sob". Most dom's are experienced enough that it shouldn't hurt or leave marks. not really. maybe very fair pink marks. unless it's a part of the play, then they are rougher.
consent and trust, something all my yaoi seem to be missing. (minus a handful of rare gems)
