That's exactly what I was thinking about. (I just finished reading this story btw T_T). He could have go to the hospital or ask someone from the street of a help.
But at the end Ash remembered about the leopard right? Maybe that's why he chose to die. He realised that there's no coming back for him. He's a wanted criminal that has murdered countless people after all. So, It won't that easy to for him to be with Eiji... So maybe he chose to die in peace instead knowing there's one person in the world that love him whole.
BUT STILL IT'S TOO UNFAIR FOR EIJI DAMN YOU STUPID ASH LEAVING THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE IN A LIFE TIME AGONY!!! T___T
I read somewhere that he feels that he deserved it and that it was better this way because he would end up going to see Eiji. Ash probably believes that he will put Eiji in danger if he is near him. Its the whole Leopard on the mountain scene tbh. He couldn´t come back from the things he did and chose that dying, knowing Eiji is fine and happy and safe is the best. I dunno tbh.
