If the series wants to be realistic, them the wife would have died from syphilis that she caught from her philandering husband (who caught it from "The Salon"). Presuming the setting is the 1800-1900's. The dad will have then raped a minor at The Salon, as there was a false belief that this was a cure for such a disease. It's hard to see the dad charcter in a positive light.

Not exactly. The age of consent was raised as a response to concerns that children were being sold to brothels like this one, and working as prostitutes on the street. Children being sex workers was common unfortunately, but this doesn't mean that there weren't any campaigns, condemnation and debates in parliament which changed the law. Regardless having sex with a minor, who has spent their childhood being groomed and buying their first time is abhorrent. Also, this webtoon hasn't touched on it, but disease and pregnancy would be a likely outcome for these poor souls. A consequence of being caught with "venereal disease" would either be being assaulted by groping policemen, and sent to a hospital or asylum which given the treatment available might as well mean an early death. That's why it's hard to see any romance between the father and Arwin. A rich man is exploiting a vulnerable young man. Yes this is fiction, but when you know the historical context it's not hard to make this setting anything but a tragedy.
Indeed. The latest chapter was just awful. He's essentially treating Arwin as an object, and whilst he may have "bought" him, it still comes off as assault. It was a deliberate act to degrade Arwin, to get him to remember he's a prostitute unworthy of having a romantic relationship, and to shame his son.
I think this webtoon fails at being a competent depiction of any social context to the actual theme though. Brothels may have employed minors till the age of consent was raised, but "buggery" was still a crime, heavily punished. Also, all of the people working at the brothel would still have had to pay their "madam" money for their room, their clothes, and a percentage of their takings. They also likely would be in debt to their madam the moment they were bought. There have been better television dramas that show the realities of brothels and molly houses, rather than it just being smut and glossing over everything like this webtoon.

Despite, the popular opinion about the dad, he actually does love his son. He wants him to become stronger because Anton is pretty naive right now. Anton in this chapter begs his father to buy Arwin for him but Arwin is well sought after by men with bigger power than his father. So his dad tried to tell him that he just can't buy Arwin out of the brothel without any consequences. He would be making enemies out of powerful men. Cyrene also wants to baby Anton but his father told her that his son is not weak. Lol Anton does not know it but his dad has pride in him. I'm guessing his dad made similar mistakes in the past with Anton's mother. I'm starting to think that the reason why he never talks about Anton's mother to his son is because he's trying to protect him from the truth about their relationship.
