It's an emotional idiom, an exaggeration. Like saying "literally kill yourself" when you're exasperated with someone. Unless you give up on something every time you get pissed at certain events or happenings, I don't think it's fair to tell them to do so, not to mention a ridiculous notion.

You don't know what they're upset about or the level of their irritation, and given their phrasing it's likely they're pissed at the current events. That doesn't warrant being told to drop the manga as a whole. If you want a more correlated example, I was pissed during the entirety of the Circus arc. That doesn't mean I should've dropped the manga, it means I was pissed at the events.

And if their opinion is obstructing your enjoyment, then you care too kuch about what strangers think. They never told anyone else to stop reading it, they simply said they weren't enjoying the recent events. If that's enough to hinder you from enjoying the series, then that's on you.
