I think the curse is for someone who wants to be loved, so it gives you that superficial love the kind that is just "oh I like your face" but never really love the person in its entirety. Now that someone genuinely cares for him, his heart and well being PLUS he has someone that he actually loves the curse is lifted. Just a thought tho...
