I'd guess there is universality in there. Groups -including family - have built in need for conformity. If you're not "inside" (conform like every one else) you're "outside, and the tribe will protect against "outsiders", either by trying to bend you, or by casting you out. Gossips and hierarchy are built in too

Yeah, it doesn't matter where you are from. The moment you show you're a bit different you'll have a lot of family members "concerned" for you. It doesn't matter the reason.
