I get what you mean, most shots really seem to be wide eyed. I still very much love the style (since they are not the generic ones we usually see but rather stylized versions of classic eyes). But it really wouldn't hurt if the author practiced different things to give each character some individuality or some more realism in how open/closed eyes are depending on the situation.
