The problem is that the guy who gave him the drug wanted him to be charged with a rape crime. If that was the case then they had to jump through a lot of hoops and fall into a lot of (plot) holes to get to the point where they'd be married because of that, as the OP was saying. Thx.
I disagree that he seems to care for her though. Nor does she seem to care for blue haired guy, even before he assaulted her with that kiss, which is one of the reasons why I can't stand her. No, it was basically a contract relationship. So it’s a win win situation for both sides since she basically just needs money, support while he just needs a wife.
