Do u think Hirata underestimates Yashiro? If yes/no why?

There is also is envy/feeling wronged concerning their 'family" hierarchy too though. Hirata thinks that he worked himself up to get to be boss of the Shinseikai, and he wants to be recognised by Misumi, whose position he inherited his from. However, the person who was introduced to their group as being a "slut", has now been given the position of 'son" to Misumi, and then "Hirata' as well as being deputy boss of the Shinseikai group. Hirata wanted to be Misumi's "son" and he can't stand that Misumi wants Yashiro to promote him to inherit the position he holds as deputy boss of the main group. This would mean that Yashiro would be Hirata's superior. And yes, Yashiro was promoted to the group due to Misumi taking a charm to him, but this was also the case to an extent with Hirata. But Yashiro couldn't have sustained his position and been granted respect by his subordinates if he wasn't a competent boss. He brings in the dough, he gets property, all the usual. He plays the role of a yakuza in this sense, but he isn't "a" yakuza, in the sense that Hirata expects which has created a bit of friction and jealousy. There was an earlier scene which showed this quite well. In their group, position is important. They were attending a meeting to mark a member being released from prison. For simplicity, let's just say that the seating plan should be 1st row Misumi, 2nd row Hirata, 3rd row Yashiro... yet Misumi went and stood beside Yashiro, and Yashiro was aware that Misumi shouldn't have done this as Hirata would act all jealous.

Of course the jealousy is there but does Hirata underestimate Yashiro's intelligence or abilities? That would give Y another advantage in this political power play.

I think so, that was sort of my point, that Hirata overlooks Yashiro's capabilities because he is so blinded by a sense of injustice and jealousy. It's obvious that Yashiro is a competent boss, he's savvy, controlled and does what he has to do in terms of the priority of making money for the group. He is respected by his subordinates, even if they are cheeky to him at times. However, in terms of what match he would be against Hirata currently, I don't think he would fair that well. Yashiro still has some severe injuries from being shot the last time, his mental health has taken a blow over the past few days, he was planning on going to see Hirata without any of his subordinates, nor his body guard. Chestnut isn't loyal to him, he just takes money, meaning Chestnut probably wouldn't act as a human shield like Nanahara or Doumeki would. Yashiro can shoot a gun yes, but him with his injuries, trying to intimidate Hirata, might not have been regarded as a threat. Chestnut though has a broken arm, and he still managed to take out Hirata's guard and threaten Hirata, so maybe my theory could be wrong. I just think that without Doumeki's intervention, by shieding him from the "bullet" or preventing him from meeting Hirata, he saved his life, or saved him from worsening his injuries.

I totally think so. I think Hirata doesn't understand Y at all and underestimates his brain and deeds. I think Hirata's the dumb one between the two. Yashiro just gets caught up in himself and emotions.

This is off topic but it's interesting that Yashiro+Hirata= Misumi....that is, Misumi used to be this cruel,terrifying Yakuza through and thru..today Hirata inherited that ruthless and ambitious streak but Yashiro has a way with people beyond seduction or charm. Misumi is so good at reading people in this series it's crazy. For Hirata to be successful he needs to read and relate to people better. For Yashiro to be successful he needs to be more ruthless. Yashiro could be that anytime he wants but Hirata isn't going to get to know people anytime soon. Sh!t even chestnut basically says he has more fun working for Yashiro

Indeed! Misumi and Amou are such great additions to the plot. Misumi is perceptive to say the least, even if he is devoted to Yashiro. There was an earlier scene, where Ryuuzaki was mouthing off to Yashiro and Nanahara said they should do something as revenge, and Yashiro just him to let it go, it's just a personal tiff. His internal dialogue read that in their world it's expected that you fight fire with fire, that walking away and being the bigger person, isn't valued as a better, more mature and productive option. When Misumi visits the Chairman in hospital, he tells him to stop being so devoted to people, it was after he spoke of his relationship with his deceased wife, his step son Amou and Yashiro, and they both comment on Yashiro's apparent lack of ambition. To an outsider, Yashiro does seem fairly ambitious, he was placed in the role of deputy boss, and obviously earns quite a bit of money for the group. But for them, he isn't ruthless as you point out, he is probably regarded as apathetic by them, just because he isn't as emotionally invested. He's not apathetic though, he is aware of the heirarchy's and obeys them, he does his job, but he isn't a violent thug who is adamant on getting to the top, and who has no issue with killing his own group family to achieve this. What will be interesting is whether the head group continue to favour Hirata over Yashiro, considering they have washed their hands of Ryuuzaki and dissolved his group. They also think Yashiro was the mastermind of the drug deal, and the police are involved. It's only Misumi and Amou that are aware that Hirata is the culprit, and even those that do within the head group, are willing to turn a blind eye for the moment. I think maybe we will see Misumi return to his old ruthless side soon in order to protect Yashiro, his underlings and to promote justice.

Tbh I doubt that many folks on the board buy the story about Yashiro. If you follow the money alone you'd find it in Hirata's possession also with the bad blood btwn Yashiro and Gouda..why would the apathetic Yashiro work with them? I think those who are against Misumi's advancement are openly supporting this obvious bullsh!t but know that Yashiro doesn't have the ruthless motivation to betray Misumi. In other words there are more Yanagi's out there than not. I wonder why Misumi isn't more popular with the board

There is also a pride issue...apparently Yashiro seduced a man on Hirata's team-someone important to him. This is the guy Hirata mentions to Ryuu when he tells him to kill Y. Also in a funnier note, the scenes where Nanahara joins Yashiro show that Nana was set up by Hirata's woman and her lover and Y turned the tables on her and saved Nana.
