Maybe this is just meant to be confusing. Because even if I don't know about the military service, the description of a white man around 30 fits Nathan as well. Nathan was also the one, who told Yuhto, that Dick murdered someone (a policeman) after all. Maybe he suspects Yuhto of something and wants him to distrust Dick instead of himself. Just a theory so.
