dont get me wrong I love Kageyama too but god I feel so bad for Yashiro having loved this guy at some point. i've never seen someone so dense when it's not personally affecting himself. We know he's a friend to Yashiro through the years, but sometimes I wonder if he's even bothered himself to even KNOW Yashiro over the years, I mean Kageyama's partner had Yashiro figured out in less than a week in his realization that Yashiro once loved Kageyama. You're a doctor but man you can be PREETTY stupid.
and then when I think that Yashiro literally sold his soul and a continued service to trauma and PSTD so to speak to save Kageyama's family home and practice I can't help but feel agitation in how much more Yashiro has done for Kageyama than Kageyama has or ever will even with Kageyama patching him up every so often. Yashiro traded his life for Kageyama if that's not love I don't know what is and god just thinking of poor Yashiro never being acknowledge as even a good friend to Kageyama but rather a nuisance he can't get rid of but has accepted it just ughh.my rant is over.
I don't know but I don't feel so harshly towards Kageyama. Yes, he is dense and, as all the other people who knows Yashiro, Kageyama also can't see him besides his own version of the man -- what seems to be a mix of pity ( that Yashiro resents) and someone who is detached but non judgmental ( something that apparently Kage admires maybe because it had to do with Yashiro accepting his burn fetich without prejudice ) ... we get to see how Kageyama sees Yashiro in that talk he is having with Doumeki. Your rage is more or less the rage Doumeki felt at that time, some kind of annoyance with Kageyama --- how can someone be loved by Yashiro and not even realize? How can this guy have been so lucky and not know it? But ... how can Kageyama be blamed for any of it? Even if he had known and rejected Yashiro, he couldn't be blamed for being the recipient of an unrequited love. Probably he wouldn't have accepted any form of sacrifice from Yashiro so Yashiro's actions are on him only. As per Kageyama talking about Yashiro as nuisance, I see it more like a false excuse to explain why he hang around this friend who clearly is not someone to be friends with if you are not a criminal. In some ways, Kageyama feels like he has to show himself 'annoyed' because, like he himself said, everybody either mocks or fears Yashiro. I feel that Kageyama kind of envied Doumeki in that scene where he plainly stated admiration for Yashiro without any concern for what others would say because I think Kageyama actually only pretend annoyance when he actually feel true affection (albeit not love) for his friend. To this point, I think Kageyama is indeed a very loyal and true friend of Yashiro and this much is reciprocated. He has no reason to keep helping Yashiro all these years, as Nana say becoming their 'back door doctor', he do it clearly out of care and friendship for Yashiro. Can he be blamed for not loving Yashiro? No. Can he be blamed for the intensity that Yashiro put on this love? No. As per Yashiro loving Kageyama to the point of sacrifice --- I don't know how to articulate this but I feel that Yashiro was someone who was incredibly lonely and traumatized so he met this friend who accepted him and he feel in love and he felt normal and this was what was the most precious for him. I have a feeling Yashiro would have loved that much anyone who did what Kageyama did that resulted in his crush at school. Kageyama represented a moment in his life that he felt he could have what others had and it's no surprise that he remained in love almost like a souvenir. Did Yashiro remained tethered to this love all these years really because he could only have loved the doctor or because not only he convinced himself he couldn't love anyone else but also took steps to avoid anyone who could get close? Was Kageyama really that unforgettable ? So I feel that Yashiro's unrequited love for Kageyama was both something it hurt him but also that he craved and need to keep nurturing as the only home he knew. I think this also explain how 3 months of Doumeki could replace 20 years of Kageyama ...
Sorry, the reply got longer than I intended.
I love the good doctor but damn, Kageyama is thicker than a bow of oatmeal. LOL
Where did he get the idea that it was Yashiro who got dumped by Doumeki?? After witnessing Doumeki talk about Yashiro, crying over his failure to protect him, cutting his finger... And after Yashiro 'Doumeki is a little bird who only latched on the first thing he saw after prison' speech trying to deny Doumeki's feelings for him were love...
And then not realizing Yashiro's leaving them behind was for their own protection.... Nana was spot on: 'Despite being friends with our boss for so long you really don't know him at all'
Kage, baby, if only you knew half of it.
