Raruk is trying to protect his world from being completely destroyed since its on the verge of destruction(literaly only 1/3 of their planet left), so he thought that by killing the people who live in this world(mainly speaking, the heroes of this world) thats colliding with theirs then his people could move to that planet and be saved.
That sucks
right? but alls well ends well
what the hell? why does he need to kill the people of this world?
why can't his people just move right on over? immigrate from their dying world into this one that's relatively ok
(I say relatively because there is the problems with the monsters, the fissures, the 3 heroes religion, the prejudice against demi-humans and so on)

they didnt think that was an option so they chose to fight. think about it, if you were in a situation where everyone around u is going insane and only 1/3 of ur planet is left, would you still be able to think logically? btw this is what happens in the light novel, which is completed ╮(￣▽￣)╭ sorry not trying to be mean or rude, just saying my opinion
