That's exactly what I took away from that extra. It's sad how abuse can travel generations. Especially when one victim ends up abusing their own offspring by simply trying to avoid doing that very thing. Pretty sad in my eyes and I never thought the farther was trying to harm him because he tried to comfort him before and after the act. He really just needed psychological help.

I love how the author conveyed the father's dilemma through a 2 page extra and those short pages of his before and after putting sakuma in the box.
I pity the father who probably never received the counselling he needed to cope with his physical abuse. In trying to not physically abuse his precious son, he inadvertently psychological abused him.
Okay this is my second reading. I noticed one thing which I didnt notice in my previous reading. I think that the story about in chapter 5.5 at the extra page was about Sakuma's father. It shows that why he locked Sakuma in box.Because Sakuma's father was beaten by his own father. When Sakura did somehing bad to not beat him like his father he locked Sakura in the box. Because Sakura was precious, beautiful to him. Now at least i can understand he did that because he wanted protect his dear child...
