^I recommend this too. I think yaoi shows more mature scenes compared to shoujo since shoujo is really directed to younger audiences. You can try out josei though.
I began with tsubaki chou lonely planet but stopped it halfway ┗( T﹏T )┛. Josei is a good idea.
