I have always wondered that. But those douple ears are in a lot of manga/anime. I like to think that the human ears are just when the weird evolution happened the ears are just useless addons now.
yeah the best manga that doesn't do the whole double ears thing and actually just have one was Goshujinsama toke dama. like he had just cat ears and then human ears when he turns human
I think it's just because like the guy with short hair would look weird if he didn't have human ears lol. But it still looks kinda stupid with 4 ears so I guess you can't win.
