I get that his mom was being "slightly less cold" to him after she gave herself a heart attack while trying to murder Sky, but does anyone else think that she should definitely be in either prison or a mental ward and immediately turn over all of her assets to Sky or his sister? Because she still has two young kids living in her house and she is bat shit INSANE. Also, Sky needs to stop dragging his damn feet and tell that mofo how he feels already instead of suffering in silence even more over what's probably just another damn misunderstanding...

I actually think that it is quite realistic. In the real life children rarely get protections before it is too late, criminals are rarely punished for their crimes and very rich peoples can buy their way out. It sad but it is the truth.

Perhaps, but it didn't even seem like anyone fucking tried to report it. Did the police even have the slightest suspicion as to why she was covered in BUCKETS of blood from a single small cut and was holding a bloodstained cutting weapon when they arrived. Also, I'm extremely fucking disappointed in Yeonduk's mom for not revealing all of the times that she said she would murder her children to the police after an incident like that and then leaving her two small children in her custody after that. There are many things that could have and should have been done, but nobody even tried, it's so fucked up.

Well, we have seen real life stories about people in danger reporting to the police horrible crimes or abuses and the police doing nothing. We also have this story about a whole building knowing that a children was cruelly abused every day (they even heard him scream and beg) and not reporting it because "they thought some else already reported it". This world is beyond fucked up.

By the way, the child was one day so beaten up that he died.

Oh, so your logic is, well sure, his mom may have tried to murder him as a child several times, but at least he's not a fucking murder victim? Sure, you could always pick and choose someone with a worse life, especially a fucking DEAD PERSON, that doesn't mean the atrocious shit happening to other living people is any lesser. Your logic is so totally fucking sociopathic and utterly lacking in basic empathy it's despicable...

This was not my point at all. Of course the right thing to do was reporting the mother and doing everything possible to prevent her to get close to her children. What I was saying is that sadly those things do happen in real life so it is not far stretched or completely unrealistic. Showing the opposite of the moral thing to do in a story can have a cathartic effect and provoque a powerful reaction in the readers. Sometimes, It can even advocate for a cause like child's protection and the lake of child's protection in our society better that a story with a perfect resolution. We don't want to be like Skyler's mum, but we don't want to act like Yeonduck's mom either after reading this story and we blame the both of them, making us swear to act if we were to be suspicious of child abuse. (Felicitation for reading this super long explanation until the end).

    Well said :)

Difficult family situations are just that, difficult. They aren't easily solved or have a clear path. Maybe as readers observing things yes, but not necessarily as a bystander. It's harder to take action and swoop in and save the day. As a kid in the family itself its even harder to take any action (and if there is an "action" to be taken, what is it?). Also keep in mind Korean culture and the idea of keeping up appearances.
