maybe they blame Maya because most of their problem started with Maya, like other love interest set their eyes on Maya instead of Nemu and Maya being oblivious like "Well yeah...". It set people on edge xD even though Maya clearly stated that he doesn't interested in anyone other than Nemu. I mean the Mangaka really sell Maya out with these people so thirsty for him :D

But in the past Nemu did tell Maya about his insecurities regarding Ruka and what did Maya do? He lied about going to see him. Nemu confronts him about lying and Maya yells at him and then Nemus apologising??? (WTF?). Then Nemu was insecure about his relationship and tried to ask Maya about his past relationships and what does Maya do he yells at him again!
why is everyone blaming maya for all this? he is doing his job!!! the problem is ruka!! Saying that Nemu needs to pull away or have another love interest is just so wrong!! i mean seriously wtf! all he needs to do is actually COMMUNICATE insead of letting it all go and staying silent about how he is being treated by ruka. How is Maya to know what is going on if NOONE says anything to him??? and now mayas the bad guy because he dosnt know? wtf is that!!
