Hmmm, idk man. Countries like Japan or even South Korea may not be the most open minded in terms of homosexuality but they do hold a strong sense of brotherhood and therefore males tend to act in a closer manner than other countries. (If that makes sense sorry)

You know you kinda opened my eyes. Now that I think about out it of all yaois Ive read Ive seen in too many of them this kind of line "XXX-kun is prettier than a girl" "Oh xx-kun face is prettier than a girl" " xx-kun skin is so soft and smooth" and they not always come from girls sometimes they come from buddies too. Yeah you right its somewhat like this : over there (japan/korea) prejudice against actual gay people is really intense, gay people suffer a lot more over there than gay people in the west but saying "gayish" things is somehow normal and more acceptable. While over here in the West people tend to be more open minded about actual gay people tho guys dont say "gayish" things to one another, there is no way a straight guy would say to his friend (specially when they are alone) " Man you prettier than a girl" "Dude you so beautiful" "You have long eyelashes theyre so pretty" because when you compliment someone like this while being alone it REALLY sounds like flirting (here in West) . Im brazilian , we are an open minded country (if you compare to Japan) but not even here a guy says to another "Hey youre prettier than a girl" " Hey youre beautiful" unless they are gay. Imagine saying these kind of things in Japan. So yeah to me they were both in love with each other. To summarize things up : They both were in love with each other -> Shikatani made a wrong desperate forcefull move -> Blondie got scared of being found out by friends in school so he shout HELPE ME when they were seen -> Blondie got scared to be found out by his parents and so he said those things. Thats it. To me they both acted like the good teenagers they are and made mistakes that a teeanger would. Its really hard to come out from closet even harder at young age.
